Amiando secures more funding

I just received the latest press release via email. With Wellington Partners and studiVZ-founder Ehssan Dariani two new investors joined. Please read the full text (german):

Neue Investoren an Bord

München, 16. April 2007.

Renovero.ch is a Swiss My-Hammer.de

Recently I received a Venture.ch (= famous Swiss business plan competition) update about OLMeRO AG:

OLMeRO, one of the main prize winners of Venture 2000, was founded as a spin-off from ETH Zurich seven years ago. They started with an online project platform for construction companies that enables builders, architects and all other constituents to collaborate effectively, and have been very successful with it. The OLMeRO team has now recently started a new service, Renovero.ch, a Swiss marketplace for renovation contracts. This new service brings together people who need to have renovations done with the craftsmen able to do it. It certainly fills a much needed void, we feel, and we wish the team all the best with their new product!

Renovero.ch is kind of a professional version of sites like my-hammer.de. The motto is "Don’t do it yourself". Everybody can post tasks and 3200 qualified craftsmen can respond with an offer

Why I started using twitter

First of all, this interesting podcast with twitter co-founder Evan Williams (and co-founder of Blogger.com) made me sign up:

http://www.podtech.net/player/podtech-player.swf?bc=5a586ee5-c7f3-4d9a-9263-831d031d14c2

Things I learned:
#1: Twitter is so freakin’ easy. It just answers one simple question: What are you doing?
#2: Twitter is like mini-blogging. Because its so easy that I can do it whereever I am via SMS, I twitter more often than I write blog posts (= more content for my blog via the twitter-widget)
#3: Evan does what he is passionate about and EATS ITS OWN DOGFOOD (= one important success factor of both twitter and blogger.com)
#4: I am definitely no early adopter (since I started blogging in august 2006 and twittering in april 2007). I have to be convinced and see real value before I try something new. Thats an interesting personal insight :-).

Example of twitter power-usage:
Robert Scoble asked his 2500+ twitter-friends what tools he should install on his new MacBookPro. The 2500+ friends received an SMS/IM/RSS-alert with this question an sent Robert dozens of tips in just a couple of minutes. Thats value!

PS: I’m sure you already saw my twitter-widget in my sidebar :-).

Tour of Swiss Watch maker Franck Muller

Robert Scoble filmed a tour of Swiss Watch maker Franck Muller while he was in Switzerland visiting the LIFT conference:

The most interesting thing about Franck Muller is that they started really late, in 1992, with 3 employees. And 15 years later, they have 850 employees. Wow! More information about the company

trigami among Top 38 at SF Start up

I am very happy to announce that trigami is among the best 38 startups at SF Start up. Out of a total 937 applications a top 100 was selected which had to pitch in front of a jury. Then 38 were selected and had to pitch in front of another jury.

Here you find the first 30 seconds of my first presentation:
http://www.sf.tv/sf1/startup/forum/static/forum_220_1_0.php

I have to admin that my pitch was pretty lousy. I don’t like it when I can’t use power-point, plus I was pretty nervous. But hey, it was a great experience and I only can get better :-).

Here you find some other pitches of my friends:
Roland Schmid (MemberYou)
Rinaldo Dieziger (Supertext)
Rouven Küng (Exsila)

Here you find all pitches.

SF Start up starts on April 16th on SF 1.
