MemberYou seems to have found his niche: Organizing professional (poker) events – not online, but offline in the real world! The last poker event was the biggest event that was ever organized in the Basel area outside of the Grand Casino Basel (according to 20min). I think that’s great and Jonas & Roland should follow this path (since it’s rather difficult those days to be just another social network). You should organize more & bigger events, make people happy, charge money and get great coverage in the press like this time. And use the online platform to make the organization of events efficient and to have a community for all the participants of all the real-world events.
This was no coincidence. Organizing events is a passion of those guys, especially Jonas. Recently he relaunched his pesonal event-tools network eventsuche.ch (which helps you get a location, catering, entertainment and equipment). These are great services and you should definitely think of Jonas when you’re organizing your next event in Switzerland.

At Venture Cocktail #3 I met Adrian from PCU Zurich. He convinced me about the concept of the PCU Network and we decided build up PCU Basel, which we did.
The first step is to meet unregularly to lunches/dinners and see what happens.

My friends Jonas and Roland launched their baby last tuesday with a big launch party with 150 people.
memberyou lets you manage your leisure time. You can find friends with the same hobby, join groups and plan and attend events together. Cool stuff about memberyou:

My friends over at PRIMECUT are organizing the next two of the famous spygame-events in Basel and Zurich. Spygame is a mixture of the famous game Scotland Yard and a classic chase. Check out this video to learn more:

Primecut geht von Online nach Offline
In nur 11 Tagen haben meine Freunde von PRIMECUT ihren Flagship-Store in Basel umgebaut, eingerichtet und eröffnet.

Die ganze Foto-Reportage zum Umbau und Aufbau gibt es hier bei PRIMECUT. Das nenn ich Public Relations. Glückwunsch an Claudio und Co. ;-).
Basler verkauft Minuten
Es gibt eine neue sehr interessante Weiterentwicklung der One thousand paintings-Idee (ich habe darüber berichtet), und zwar doyouhaveaminute.ch von Jürg Keller.
Das Kunstprojekt besteht auf 1440 Einzelstücken, jede Minute des Tages (1 Tag = 24 Stunden = 1440 Minuten) gibt es nur einmal zu kaufen.
Jürg Keller beschäftigt sich seit 12 Jahren mit Papierschnitten für die Basler Fasnacht und ist gemäss eigenen Angaben kein Unbekannter in dieser Szene.
Bisher wurden aber erst 11 Minuten in 3 Länder verkauft. So richtig rumgesprochen hat sich das Projekt offenbar noch nicht. Kein Wunder, denn die Kunstwerke sind recht teuer. Für obiges “23:30″ (die Zeit des ersten Chuchichäschtli-Postings am 3. August 2006) müsste ich $320 hinblättern. Das ist mir den Spass aber nicht wert.
Die Kunstidee gefällt mir aber dennoch ziemlich gut. Denn eine spezielle Uhrzeit kann für einen Menschen eine wichtige Bedeutung haben (z.B. Geburtszeit des eigenen Kindes). Darum unterstütze ich Jürg Keller mit diesem Posting und wünsche ihm für sein Kunstprojekt alles Gute. Hier noch ein Bild zweier glücklicher Besitzer:

Ich war natürlich auch am Start. Der Abend war sehr Biotech geprägt (kein Wunder, denn wir waren ja auch im Biozentrum), aber sehr interessant. Ich konnte einige Learnings ableiten und einige sehr interessante Leute kennenlernen.
Canoo.com aus Basel beliefert Google und Co.
Via Swissventures bin ich auf ein unscheinbares Unternehmen namens Canoo aufmerksam geworden. Die Canoo Engineering AG wurde 1999 in Basel gegründet und bietet “Java-based software consulting services and products that are used in more than 60 countries” (Quelle). Das Unternehmen hat 35 Mitarbeiter.
